Teachers Rally to Protect School Music Programs

This is a headline in the Nanaimo Daily News from February 25th, 2010.

Norman Mould, president of the Coa;lition for Music Education in BC "Music is not a frill, it's an important part of how we want our children to grow and mature."

He is absolutely right. Just think of the book 'The Mozart Effect ... Tapping the Power of Music to Heal the Body, Strengthen the Mind, and Unlock the Creative Spirit' from Don Campbell

Music is used for therapy and rehabilitation, for example when people can't speak after a stroke. Music enhances learning and creativity. Even the cows give more milkwhen they are allowed to listen to music...there was another animal that liked music, forgot which one.

When you followed my blog posts then you know how much Mark is helping people with his music.
From his website "Schoolteachers are playing the music for students and are convinced that the music is helping their studies and improving grades. Listeners are also noticing an improvement with their exercise programs and yoga routines. And most surprisingly, listeners are breaking through subconscious blocks and barriers all by simply playing the music."

In short: we all, not only the children, need music!
The German upper class boarding school 'Salem' emphasized musical education a lot and also various crafts like book binding and cabinet making. These are the ones I know about.

Music helps us to be happy and when we are happy our immune system is also happy and ... we are more able to love life.
